Philippe Decrauzat is a Swiss artist who explores visual and auditory dimensions through geometric compositions that blend abstraction and science. Influenced by movements such as constructivism, op art, and minimalism, he examines how the human eye perceives and interprets forms and movements. His work represents a thorough investigation of the links between art and science, notably through the study of physical and perceptual phenomena. In his series Stone, Notes, Tones(2014), he draws inspiration from the research of physiologist Étienne-Jules Marey on bodily movements, translating variations in breathing into parallel lines to create an experience that is both visual and sensory.

Throughout his career, Philippe Decrauzat has exhibited his work in renowned institutions. In 2006, he presented an installation combining sculptures, wall paintings, and video projections at the Centre d’Art Contemporain de Genève. In 2014, he further enriched his practice by showcasing his works at the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne, deepening the exploration of the interplay between visual and auditory perception. His creations have also been exhibited at the Galerie Praz-Delavallade in Paris and the Galerie Francesca Pia in Zurich.

In 2022, Philippe Decrauzat was honored with the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp, a testament to his acclaimed career and his ability to seamlessly merge art, science, and abstraction. His innovative approach and relentless pursuit of visual harmony have established him as a leading figure in the contemporary art scene, offering audiences works that are both profound and captivating.
